Photoshop Masks Assignment

I made this image using a space picture and putting another picture of a cat in front of it. I used Photoshop CS6 on the mac to create this image, the steps i used t make this are

1. First I opened the picture of the background then I opened the picture of the cat
2. I changed the size of the cat image to make it proportional to the background
3. Then I draged the cat image to the space bar and onto the image of space
4. I then unlocked the background to make it 2 layers
5. Then I used the quick selection tool to select the image of the cat
6. I used refine edge to the make the sides of it more smooth and make it look like the cat belongs there
7. Then I made a mask of the background so I could make the cat and background have the same lighting
8. Finally I saved it

Teamwork Stop Motion Video

We made a stop motion video about teamwork which was an easy topic because everyone helps each other. We showed the theme of teamwork by the way the clay figures helped each other out. We made the set by taking a piece of cardboard and painting it blue to look like the sky and then taking soil to make the garden, we also made our figures out of clay so it would be easier to move.

I found a lot of things interesting about this painting first off that its in black and white I liked that because it really makes the viewer wan tot look more closely at it. I also like all the details that the artists put into this art and all the freedom the viewer has to make it about how they feel and how they can see what thy want to see.

Follow through and overlapping action
This is when the animations body moves but some of there body parts or clothing aren't moving yet.

Slow-out and slow-in
Is when you have more images it makes the seconds longer and when you have fewer mages it makes the seconds go faster.

Arcs
Is the shapes on the body such as eyes, head and arms.

Secondary action
Is adding emphasis and supports the actions that the body makes so if a women is swinging her arms around her fingers will be moving as well as her selves down because of gravity.

Zoetrope - William George Horner

Zoetrope

The zoetrope is a turning object that uses persistence of motion to create the illusion that the images are moving around in a circle. I found the zoetrope interesting because it was originally called the wheel of devil and the images that are making the illusion of motion have nothing to do with the devil, and that that images are of a person riding a horse. The zoetrope was created by William George Horner in 1834 and it was important in the creation of stop motion because it introduced a possibility of animation of more complex animation in the future.

Stop Motion: Gulp

                 I learned that stop motion is a very complicated thing that takes way more time then I would of thought it would take.I learned that it takes 16 hours to make only 20 shots. This stop motion in particular was one of the hardest because it was filmed outside so you had to make sure that the sun was in the right place so that there would be enough light on it, also because of how close it was filmed to the ocean they had to make sure that the tide wouldn't come and wash away the pictures they made in the sand and also the boat itself to make sure that it wouldn't get lost. The stop motion Gulp is the largest stop motion in the world it took a lot of team work and with 20 people with a lot of different ideas it took a lot of time to make. This stop motion was also filmed with a Nokia N8 phone so it shows that everyone can make a stop motion video all you need is time and enjoyment of making stop motion.

Chess Piece

Chess Piece Drawing

My chess piece is realistic because of how I used proportion to show the actual size of the chess piece and how it also looks life like by the way i made the value look the exact same way as it was when I was drawing it.
 I also showed pattern by the way I repeated the four chess pieces and the circled lines that go around them, movement by the way I lined up the chess pieces to be side by side and also by the way their diagonal from each other and also how I made the two lines lead up to the chess pieces and finally rhythm by the way I showed contrast in the background by how the shaded value is shown in the circles and how it leads up to the chess pieces to show that they are connected and how they go together.
I drew my art with a very wide range of value shown in the chess piece itself and the background by the way the circles go from light to dark from the top being light and the bottom being dark and also in the chess piece how the light fell on it is represented by the darks and lights.
I used the rule of thirds when i was making my art by the way I put the focal point in the top left square instead of the centre to let the viewers eyes move around the paper to the circles and lines leading up to the four chess pieces.
The background also helps with the focal point because the circles and lines are all leading up to the center of the four chess pieces to create interest in the art and also by the negative space in-between.

My cyber arts class and I made an artwork by Daumier without looking at the photo. The point of this project was to learn about value by using charcoal, I think everyone did a great job!

Logo Assignment

For the logo assignment I chose a red fox because it represents me the best. The first point being that they are good listeners. I am a good listener because I pay attention and keep eye contact to engage the person into conversation. This helps me with being a good listener because it makes me a more sociable person. I’m also very adaptable like the red fox and can easily be comfortable in a new environment; this helps me because if I have to go somewhere new I can easily be comfortable and make do with what I have. The red fox is also very cunning, persistent and beautiful which I also am; W5 made a documentary about jobs and looks that showed a middle aged man and women going for a job interview with more skills then necessary and a young attractive female and male that could barely do the tasks at hand and they got the job.  This shows that people who are younger and more attractive will get further in their career. I made the logo by using the pen tool to outline the face of the fox I then filled it in with color. I decided to add a nose and eyes to make the fox more recognizable I made the shapes using the pen tool again and then changed the color of them to match the face. Then I added the logos name to complete the art.

The Unicorn in Captivity

The unicorn in captivity is realistic because the picture shows a unicorn drawn in full detail by the way u can see the texture of the lines. This picture shows color, balance and pattern from the background alone. First off it shows color from all they different colors in the picture such as the deep blues and soft reds. It also shows balance because there are other colors in the background that help make the unicorn more on the page and connected to the art. Finally it shows pattern from the repeated flowers in the background. The picture is also not realistic because there is no such thing as a unicorn so it brings out the viewers imagination. It looks life like because of the unicorn in the cage but the background doesn’t look realistic because it’s a repeating pattern of plants and flowers, if someone were to make it more realistic they would probably start with changing the background to something like a field or a farm. They would also change the unicorn into a horse or another animal because like I wrote before unicorns aren’t real.

This image shows formalism because most of the elements and principles of design are in this picture. For example there is emphasis on the unicorn because it’s white and color from the background like blue, red and yellow helps make the unicorn pop. It also shows space and balance from the way distance between each plant and also inside the cage how there’s plants so to show that the field is one piece and not to stop randomly around the cage. This image has a balance that intrigues people to look at the picture for longer so they can see the depth and detail in the unicorn.

            The unicorn in captivity makes people feel intrigued and curious like they want to know more or see more. It makes people feel this way because of the colors such as the blues and ivory white, it also shows unity in the image from the way all the colors match it helps make the picture flow in harmony. It’s unlike any other picture of a unicorn because it’s not a real animal so everyone’s interpretation of a unicorn is different. Unicorns look unalike in some art because people’s ideas are different from one another, so the picture of unicorn changes every time.

The profile picture I created represents me because it shows my hair which is something that I really like on my body. I applied a Adobe Photoshop filter that made the contrast really vibrant so the photo is less recognizable.

Reputation and Rhythm Paragraph

I created rhythm in my steady line artwork with the way I made the lines evenly apart.  This helped because it showed accuracies and balance when I made a reflection of the first image that also showed pattern. This also showed contrast by the way the lines are going in opposite direction to show visual interest. This works because it has a lot of line with eve balance.

            I made a dynamic line with the way I was changing direction of the lines and how I made value by using a texturized line. I used space to make emphasis on the lines and also to show pattern. This artwork is also pleasing to the eye and I like it because its simple and shows a lot of elements and principles of design.
